Today is Megan's birthday, so in honor of the blessed day when she was brought forth into this world and graced the rest of us with her life and laughter, I have decided to dedicate this blog to her.
Let me tell you a little story.
23 years ago, on the morning of Novermber 4, Cindy Iazeolla began having serious labor pains. Several hours later, the pride and joy we all know and love and refer to as Megan was delivered from her womb, where she had spent the previous 40 weeks developing and covering herself with cottage cheese. Sick.
Luckily, for those of us that live with Megan, she no longer wraps herself in snotty substances. Nowadays, she tends to stick to Gap t-shirts and jeans. And wow, does she look good in them. Woo!
The parental units came to campus tonight to take the 4 of us ladies out to eat for the birthday festivities. They brought Brother, Ciara, Zach, and Jared with them. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit jealous that everyone else had their significant others with them, while mine was far away in Lafayette. Ok, well everyone who has one, which is everybody but Nicole. Anyhoo, it was a great time, and I'm so glad everyone came. We just laughed so much. I've missed sitting around the dinner table with my fam and cracking up at everyone else. Except this time, we were at Ryan's in Marion, and there were 10 of us instead of the usual 5 (or 6, as Meg is officially a part of us now). Holy mother, my roommate is HILARIOUS!! She told her funniest story, and I told the Cinderblock joke and broke out a few BurnVictim phrases; Dad had never heard any of the BV jokes, so he was slightly caught off guard, but then laughed like a hyena when he remembered that I am a BV myself, so.... I guess I have a right to make those jokes, right?
Dad said that the 4 of us are a lot alike and he can see how we'd get along so well. He's right. I don't mean to sound arrogant with this or anything, but I think we are the funniest people I know, both together as a group and individually. We make me VERY happy.
I think God knew what he was doing when he had Kyle introduce Kalee and Megan 4 years ago. Gosh, it's been a wild ride. There have been some tough times of working through problems on the journey of becoming free and healed, but I've learned so much about truth and life and love over the past few years. I have a few very close friends whom I love dearly and would do anything for, but nobody has managed to cross the line from friend to true sister like Megan has. I mean that. I honestly feel like I have a flesh and blood bond with her. I mean, I know that she and I will probably never be like how Kalee and I are, but she's the closest thing to it. By far. It's so weird how life works itself out; I'll never cease to be amazed at the workings of the Lord. Woo!
On that note, happy birthday, Megan Renee Iazeolla. I can't tell you how glad I am that your were born on this glorious autumnal day, 23 long years ago.
You mean more to me than you realize. Thank you. For everything.
