Busy, busy, busy!

Classes started this week, and I think that I am already anticipating Christmas break. How sad is that? So far, none of my classes really seem incredibly interesting, and I don't look forward to going to any certain one. That bums me out, but I guess I was due for a boring semester. I haven't had one yet.

I've been feeling overwhelmed the past week or so. What with classes finally starting, homework out the wazoo, Res Life Week (which, by the way, my unit didn't do so well in), RA meetings, etc., there isn't much time to just "be." I guess I'll need a few weeks to hammer out my schedule so I don't feel like my life is one big ball of winding chaos. That's certainly what it felt like this week.

However, I have a great roommate. She seems to know what I am thinking and how to help me out. She decided that we shold just hang out on Saturday night and not do anything but relax and be together. So we did, and it was great.

I'm SO GLAD Res Life Week is over. Ugh, I loathe it. For all of you who don't know, Res Life Week is the first week of class in the fall semester. Every dorm "hosts" a different event, and each unit is supposed to have participants in every activity. For instance, Reed Hall always does the monkey bike races, Carmin the rollerblade obstacle course, Scripture the frisbee golf tournament, Evans the pudding tug o' war (always messy, always fun), and on and on. Kem Hall does the Kem Hall Slip n' Slide. Woo? Yesterday was the last day. The Bowman Boat Race is always the most-attended event all week long. Every unit has to make a boat out of cardboard and duct tape-following very strict guidelines on the amount of tape that can be used-and there is a big parade down to the retention pond by the soccer fields. Each boat is registered in a heat and then races across the pond. I don't understand why it is such a big event, but it's really fun to watch. Addy came yesterday to hang out with Brent, so she and I paraded together, as Brent's floor made a killer boat. Their boat was amazing, actually, and it won its heat by a landslide. Turns out, they set a new Res Life record. Way to go, Scripture 2 West! After that, we headed back to Kem to finish setting up the tarps. I was the flag lady, incharge of placing flags for the top 5 sliders. Very fun. Very wet.

UPDATE: The Kansas/Peter Frampton concert on Friday in Muncie was GREAT! Janeen and I had a good time rocking out. And by rocking out, of course I mean just standing there in the crowd. It's not easy to dance a lot to either Kansas or Frampton, but there were quite a few very drunk older people dancing the night away. They were fun to watch. It was definitely a crowd of 40 and 50-somethings. Which makes sense, as the bands are more from that era. There were a few college kids who showed up, but they were all from Ball State, and I think they just came for the alcohol. The two guys who found Janeen and I and didn't leave all night long (interesting story) actually seemed to like the music and sang along. And Peter Frampton aged very well. I still think he is very good looking, hair or no hair. Also, I believe every human should hear "Carry On My Wayward Son" live in concert. It's quite the experience.
